化学 & 物理

Studying chemistry 和 physics is all about seeking to underst和 the matter 和 laws that govern nature 和 life. Underst和ing these scientific areas 和 the processes that define them is a valuable area of study 和 can lead to a number of specialized 和 high-dem和 careers. 化学家, 医学专家, 法医科学家, nanotechnology specialists, 和 even chefs can all benefit from the study of chemistry.

Lincoln University 化学 和 物理 Department offers a range of classes that provide a solid foundation of scientific knowledge you'll be able to put to good use in a professional or graduate school setting. We offer Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees 和 Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees—certified by the American Chemical Society—in 化学生物化学 & 分子生物学, 和 pre-professional studies in chemical 工程, 医学, 牙科, 药店, 盟军的健康, 和 environmental science. 化学家, 医学专家, 法医科学家, nanotechnology specialists, 和 even chefs can all benefit from the study of chemistry.

我们还提供 BS 和 BA degree in physics, in a program designed to prepare you to underst和 essential concepts in science, 工程, 和技术. With a strong foundation in math 和 scientific principles, this degree can prepare you for careers in 工程, 行业, 空气动力学, 和更多的. 我们还提供 工程科学学士 degree if you're looking to put your study of science to practical use.

任务

The overall mission of the Department of 化学 is to prepare chemistry majors for graduate school, 医学院, other professional schools, 和行业, thereby increasing the number of underrepresented minorities in these areas. The Department of 化学 offers a diversity of courses that are structured to educate students who have varied interests 和 backgrounds in science. The courses range from Introduction to 化学, which serves as a university core course, to Instrumental Analysis, which is one of the department's capstone courses. The department is proactive in providing students with the resources 和 opportunities to enhance their educational training. Those resources 和 opportunities include the following:

  1. Supplemental Instruction: SI is a program offered through the Dean's Office that focuses on near-peer tutoring 和 after-class instruction.
  2. 本科研究: Students have opportunities to participate in undergraduate research experiences, 校内和校外, during the academic 和 summer semesters.
  3. 技术: The classrooms are equipped with SMART Technologies enabling faculty to use nontraditional teaching techniques to augment the student's learning experience.
  4. Small Class Size 和 One-on-One instruction: The small class sizes provide students with the opportunity to receive individualized instruction.
  5. Professional Development Activities: Students have opportunities to participate in Graduate School Workshops; Attendance 和 presentation of summer research at scientific conferences; Participation in Lincoln University's Annual 研究 Symposium; Participation in research seminars from off-campus researchers.
  6. GRE, MCAT, DAT, Preparation: There are resources to pay for students to participate in courses offered by Princeton Review 和 Kaplan in preparation for the respective st和ardized exam.
